There are defibrillators at the Village Hall and the All Saints church room, accessible by ringing 999 – ask for Ambulance service who will give instructions.
Also the Parish Council is in the process of setting up a Community Emergency Plan and full details will be available on the PC website in the near future.

Public Transport into Romsey and Beyond
Bus service nbr 35 runs from Romsey Bus Station to Braishfield. The school bus starts/ends at the war memorial in the morning and afternoon. All other services start/end at the Manor Crossroads.
Stops are at the Dog & Crook, The Wheatsheaf, War Memorial and Manor Crossroads however Service 35 is HAIL-AND-RIDE – the bus will stop on request at any safe point. You must give the driver a clear signal to stop.

Refuse Collection
Household and recyclable refuse is collected on alternate weeks on Friday morning throughout the village.
Wheelie bins must be placed by the road outside your dwelling, this is obligatory except by prior arrangement with the Borough Council.
A schedule of collections is issued by the Council in November
Household waste is collected in the black/grey bin.
Recyclable waste i.e. Plastic bottles, paper, magazines, cardboard, and tins (but NOT glass or food containers) is collected in the brown bin.
Green garden waste collection scheme is available but chargeable by licence. Green bags or bins of garden waste are collected every other week to coincide with the household waste collection. Green 240 litre wheelie bins are now available instead of the green bags at a one off cost of £25 per bin. A licence is still needed for the emptying of these.

Advertisements
Advertisements for village organisations, etc., may be placed in theBraishfield Village News (please contact the Editor 368119 or email) or on the Village Notice boards which are intended for transitory adverts connected to the village and not for commercial use. Please make these notices no bigger than A5.
Braishfield Village Hall
The hall is situated at the end of the Recreation Ground and comprises a main hall and stage, a large committee room, well appointed kitchen, a room suitable for a bar, cloakroom, toilet facilities including a toilet for disabled persons. The Village Hall Management Committee organises fund raising events during the year including the popular Village Quiz in the Autumn.

Recreation Ground
There is a children’s play area with swings, seesaw, climbing frames etc. constructed in 2009. In addition a Trim Trail was opened in 2010 to provide an exercise facility for both adults and children.
The Recreation Ground is also the home ground for the Braishfield Football Club who maintain the pitch. (follow link to Football Club).
For obvious reasons villagers are asked not to allow their dogs to foul the area. The pavilion may be used by arrangement with the Football Club.
Permission to use the Recreation Ground for any events must be sought from the Parish Council.
Church Room
Alongside All Saints Church, the Church Room has been completely refurbished to a very high standard and was officially opened by the Bishop of Winchester on All Saints Day 2009. The cost of the refurbishment was met, almost entirely, by the generosity of the villagers and those who have an affinity with Braishfield. We were very fortunate to receive grants from The Low Carbon Building Programme and the Community Sustainable Energy Programme, towards the cost of our heating system.

Braishfield Social Club (CIU Appointed)
This is situated in Common Hill Road. The main hall may be used for private functions. The village wheelchair is held at the Club.

Braishfield Village Free Library
Braishfield Parish Council has purchased the old Phone Box opposite Newport Lane from BT and funded the required repairs to preserve this iconic piece of history in our village. It has been transformed into the home of the Braishfield Village Free Library. The premise is simple – bring a book, take a book.

Situated next to the Village Hall and recreation ground with parking outside, in a lovely bright purpose built shop, our Village Pantry sells fresh and locally sourced produce as well as basic household needs. Our award winning Community Shop and Cafe offers a warm welcome and easy access to all. A huge asset to our community since 2014, we serve as a social hub for the village and beyond and offer teas and coffees as well as delicious home-made cakes and goodies in our cafe. Managed by our fantastic shop supervisor Sharon, who also makes our lovely cakes, quiches and sausage rolls, and mainly run by our wonderful team of volunteers, the Pantry looks forward to welcoming you.
